Hi! I hope you all are doing well. A few weeks ago I mentioned that since our next move is quickly approaching, we won’t be doing anymore projects on our SC home so I figured in the meantime I’d share the design plans for our next home. These are the plans we’d follow and go with if we were in the new house today and said, “Alright! Tomorrow we’re going to start on the _____.” The last time I shared a post like this one I shared our master bedroom plans. Today I’m sharing what we’d do in the office!
In the next house our aim is to add even more fun in the home while still keeping to our “essentialist”, with a touch of character and a hint of modern style! It might shock you to see that I’m gravitating towards painting the room something other than white (BM Chantilly Lace). This green color is Magnolia Paint Silverado Sage. *GASP*! I know… It surprises me a bit too. I just love a dark wall when done right! I think it’s still possible to feel clean and yet make it a bit more cozy by adding in some dimension with color. Since I spend so much time in this room, it’s really important to me that it’s a space that I feel inspired in.
I always create a design plan before starting a project. This is something Brooke from @nestingwithgrace taught me years ago and I’ve done it ever since. I use Photoshop to do this but you can also use PicMonkey like Brooke uses! It has saved us so much time and money in the long run. It also enables us to stick to our budget! Which you’d know we’re big on if you’ve watched videos one, two, or three about how we got out of debt and follow a budget!
I’ve shared this light a couple of times now. I know it’s a bit more feminine than what I’ve done in the past but I love the vintage feel of it. Pairing it with the gold curtain rod adds a hint of modern that we love. Two more things things I’d snag right now if I actually knew where we were living – this chair and this rug. This chair rolls!! WHAT?! I was so surprised by that. I like that it looks so comfortable and is functional without being a typical desk chair. I also love the colors of this rug. It looks really beautiful in review pictures!
As for the desk setup, I love the idea of having a desk that runs the length of a wall. That way both Stephen and I will have plenty of work space. My brother made his own desk using drawer units and a wood top from IKEA and it worked out great for him. I think it could work well (and look the way we want it to!) for us too. The other option we’re considering is a large dark walnut stained table.
I hope this gives you all a bit of inspiration if you’re planning on updating your own office space soon! How do you feel about the cozy green color? Does it make you happy too? Or would you continue to stick with white?
Thank you so much for being here today! Stay well, friends.
