Hi friends! Heck, I know that I already started decorating our mantle for Christmas but since the blog revamp was going on during September-October and fall decor time, I wanted to make sure to share how we decorated our home! I shared all about my plans for how I wanted to decorate here but here it is in action!
This year I wanted to keep it pretty simple around here. I find myself gravitating towards that more and more and our fall decor was on exception. For the porch I used a pair of pink mums, a pair of white mums, a couple of classic orange pumpkins, and some white small pumpkins. I found that Home Depot had the best variety and price for mums. My favorite place to get pumpkins is Trader Joe’s! They always have a really fun selection.
I added kale into the hanging basket on the door! Kale will last the entire winter if watered. It’s pretty resilient and gets more purple as it gets colder. We have kale in both of our window boxes too. I placed a plastic bag from the grocery story in the bottom and then crumbled up a few Trader Joe’s bags and stuffed them in there to give it some height. Then I just added the kale and soil directly into the basket. When I watered it I would take the basket down, soak it with water and let it drain out for a bit. You could also just water it while hanging on the door. It wasn’t a big deal at all. I just figured I’d try to avoid water on the stained door if possible so it didn’t fade as quicker over time.
The buffalo check mat is from Hobby Lobby but here is one that looks just like it on Amazon!
Sticking with the simple theme… Our entryway! If you subscribe to the blog you’ll receive these three hand lettered printables for FREE! My friend Natalee from @natalligrapy did them! She’s so talented! If you’re already subscribed, you should’ve received them in your inbox yesterday (if you haven’t seen the email come through, check your spam)!
Did you read about our new couch slipcovers? We adore them! You can read all about them HERE!
Some pie pumpkins, a pink watercolor pumpkin, Harry Potter books, and our two “smoking men” were enough for our fall decor this year. I wanted to add some big bulb old fashioned string lights to hang off the mantle but I couldn’t find exactly what I was imagining so I decided to pass on that.
We recently added this DIY chalkboard and I think it adds some fun interest to the kitchen. I’m still team “paint the entire wall” but marriage is about compromise, right? 😉 This DIY was super super simple. I plan on sharing the tutorial on here in the upcoming weeks!
I don’t believe that in order for a space to read “fall” you have to include pumpkins and leaves galore. For our bedroom I added a maroon striped blanket (old from H&M) and a couple of floral pillows that have oranges, maroons, and pinks in them (also old, from Home Goods) and called it good! You can find our duvet cover HERE and all of the other sources in the rooms HERE.
This room makes me so happy! The links for everything in this room can also be found HERE!
