Happy Monday! I’m feeling super energized coming into this work week. Stephen and I got a lot done over the weekend so I feel like WOO! Let’s keep this up! We hung up some curtains, adjusted the TV mount, cleaned up the backyard, fixed the curtain rods in the office, and the most exciting of them all– we made some progress on the guest bathroom!
Here’s a little before action…
The shelves are finally hung! If you’ve been following along on my Instagram stories you know what an ordeal this was. We removed the towel rack, stained the wood (tutorial coming soon) and used these brackets from Hobby Lobby that I purchased for 50% off. Never, ever purchase anything from Hobby Lobby at full price. I bought these originally when they weren’t on sale and used a 40% coupon on one. The next day, I went back and returned one to buy it back to use the 40% coupon again. I learned the hard way that Hobby Lobby will not let you do this at two locations in one day. YES, I’M THAT GIRL. LET ME BE. Anyway, it managed to get worse when Stephen went to hang the second shelf and realized that one of the brackets had the wrong number of holes in it… After searching at multiple Hobby Lobby’s we finally found another one and the things are DONE.
Overall, the shelves cost us under $30. I would’ve preferred to cut the cost even more by using some old barn wood but we didn’t have any on hand unfortunately. I’m not done with them yet! I have to add some cute jars, florals, etc. but here’s how they look right this minute. We’re just happy they’re up!
We also switched out the previous light fixture for this light that we found at Lowe’s to give the space more of a farmhouse feel!
Lastly, we moved the shower curtain rod up about a foot to make the room feel larger. The ceilings are high but the low position of the curtain rod was making the bathroom feel small. We were amazed by how much bigger the room felt after we moved it!
Next up on the list for this room is for us to DIY some hooks for towels and to finish decorating the shelves. We’ll probably do a few more things eventually like change out the faucet and DIY the mirror but for now we love the way it has turned out!
