Favorite Memories of 2017

posted in:

Every year Stephen and I sit down together to review our year. We really enjoy breaking down every month and reminiscing over all of the good memories we made. It’s also really useful to use this time to write down our goals for the upcoming year, which I’ll discuss tomorrow!

We celebrated so much in 2017 and did quite a bit of traveling so it was pretty difficult to narrow down the list. I think this year was my favorite year to date. I’m pretty certain Stephen would agree…

Favorites of 2017

Five Daughters Bakery Trip – February 2017 – Stephen and I were living 8 hours apart at the time and rarely ever saw each other so Stephen planned a weekend for us to meet in the middle in Nashville and try a donut shop I had been wishing to try– Five Daughters Bakery. You guys… It did not disappoint. It is at the very top of our list for our favorite donut shop. It was such a fun weekend and he planned it all for my love of donuts (and so we could be together for a bit, of course). You’re a keeper, Stephen.

JS wedding photos

Our Wedding – May 2017 – This one is pretty self-explanatory. It was by far the best day of our lives. What a stinkin’ BLAST we had surrounded by the greatest family and friends we could ever ask for.

favorite memories of 2017 -6

Moving to Arizona – June 2017 – This one was especially exciting for us since we had been long distance for a few years up to this point. We really didn’t have too much difficulty getting used to having each other as roommates (and spouses), thankfully. The first couple of weeks we slept on a blow up air mattress, sat on football chairs while watching a TV on Tupperware bins, and bought our first piece of furniture together as The Tupta’s – a kitchen table (which we already sold).

Favorite memories of 2017

Mini Moon Weekend – July 2017 – Since Stephen was in the middle of training and I was working, we didn’t get to go on a honeymoon right after our wedding. Instead, over July 4th weekend we stayed at two different resorts in Tucson. We had so much fun during that little trip. I think our favorite part was definitely the food. Boy, did we eat… One morning we ate at one of the world’s top rated breakfast buffets for 2.5 hours. TWO AND A HALF HOURS! Our hearts were full but our stomachs were fuller…

Favorite memories of 2017

Bringing Home Adi – July 11, 2017 – Other than our marriage this favorite memory of ours definitely changed our lives the most. We have learned quite a lot from sweet little Adi. Stephen and I just looked through this post and couldn’t stop saying “oh my goshhhhh”. She was and still is so stinking precious.

building a house

Building a House in South Carolina – October 2017 – Don’t get me wrong, this one is certainly exciting but it’s really just going on this list because it’s a “big deal”. We’re excited to start our adventure in South Carolina but we also know that we will not be there forever so I have a very different mentality compared to what it would be if we were building our forever home. Like I said, it’s definitely exciting! So far we’ve loved most of the home building process and getting to make it our own. For the most recent update click here.

favorites of 2017

Stephen Graduated from F-16 Training – December 2017 – After years and years of really hard work, Stephen is finally done as a student. It’s crazy to think that this journey really all began the day he started kindergarten twenty years ago. What a ride it has been! We couldn’t be more proud of him.

It was really a special year. I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store!
