Home, Hiking, and Donuts – September 2017

posted in:

In the blink of an eye, September 2017 is behind us. I suppose this month could be considered a “big one” for me and Stephen. We made a lot of headway in preparing for our next move in a couple of months. We also made our biggest purchase to date. Can anyone guess what it is?!

A lot of the month was pretty uneventful. We both got a really bad cold (luckily, his lasted much shorter than mine) which forced us to slow down for a couple of weekends. We did get a lot done around the house and spent a lot of time doing research for South Carolina, though. Oh, and we watched a lot of New Girl. That’s currently our favorite Netflix binge.

Highlights:

We started out September by spending Labor Day weekend on Coronado Island. I’ve recapped the entire thing here and here so I’m not going to go into detail but we had a blast getting away with our good friends for a few days.

One Friday night we tried out a local pizza place called Cibo in Phoenix with friends. It’s so cute and quaint! I think their pizza is the closest thing I’ve had to real Italian pizza. It was so so good. I’d definitely suggest trying it out if you’re in the area!

Stephen and I explored thrift shops and found a bunch of great things to bring home with us. A lot of them require some TLC (just the way I like it!) so I’m excited to get started on them this week.

We hiked North Mountain with Adi. It was her first hike ever and she loved it! Afterward, we went to Rollover Doughnuts in Phoenix. We got there pretty late in the morning so we didn’t have tons of options to choose from but the ones that we did try were really good. My favorite was the chocolate peanut butter doughnut.

I spent the last few days of the month at home in Virginia so my dad and I could go down to South Carolina. It was a quick trip but we got a lot done down there. When I was home, I made sure to soak up as much as possible (hence my lack of posting anywhere) with my parents and all of my furry siblings (my brother included… Just kidding, John… I made a ha-ha). Now that we’re living across the country, I just can’t justify spending time on my computer/phone during the rare moments I get to spend around my family. You know what I’m sayin’? Anyway, my parents got goats right after our wedding and boy they are a hoot. My mom walks the little one, Pepper, on a leash and I couldn’t stop laughing. We can’t wait to be driving distance away in a few short months!

The only picture I took during our quick trip to South Carolina is this…. Go figure…

September recap - 6Lastly, fall is finally here! I can’t tell you how happy that makes me. Football is in full swing, the smell of pumpkin spice is in the air (thank you, Yankee Candle), and it’s actually a bit chilly in the morning in Phoenix now! Pepper is excited for fall too…

Adi:

Little Adi is still growing and is still a handful! I don’t think there’s a day that goes by that Stephen and I say to each other, “She’s just so cute!” She still has puppy tendencies (biting, jumping, extremely excited with people) but overall she’s a really great dog. She’s officially 40+ pounds now. The doctors were suspecting she’d be much bigger than that but it seems like she hasn’t been growing as much lately. She might be going through another growth spurt now though considering the past few days she’s been “napping” for the vast majority of the day. Stephen fed her cheese for the first time the other day when I was away. In his words, “I’ve created a monster.”
