Friday Favorites No. 2

posted in:

I have a feeling this series is going to be one of my favorites. I really enjoy reflecting back on my week and highlighting all of the moments and things that brought joy to my life.

  • Hurricane Harvey

While this isn’t something that screams happiness and certainly not a favorite of mine, I think it’s really important to mention Hurricane Harvey. My heart aches for the people of Texas right now. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it all week and to be honest, I’ve felt guilty for going on with my life as normal. I believe, however, that there is a light amidst this darkness. In the past couple of weeks especially there has been so much ugly hatred spread across our country. To watch the people of Texas coming together to rescue, comfort, protect, and support each other during this disaster has been so uplifting. I hope that it has encouraged people to slow down for a minute and appreciate how fortunate we all are. We all need to love on our family (pets included) and friends as much as we can and take a moment out of our busy day to send your thoughts and prayers to those in Texas. The rain may have stopped but there is a long road to recovery ahead.

  • L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

I’m so excited about this mascara because I’m typically a ride or die Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara girl. However, I heard in multiple posts and videos from other bloggers/makeup artists that this was definitely a contender so I decided to try it out. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the BTS mascara too but for the price the L’Oreal version cannot be beat! Hey, it’s more money left in my wallet, right? After wearing it for a couple of weeks I think the formulas are very similar. The main difference I noticed between the two is the brush. I do prefer the BTS brush more but at less than half the cost for the L’Oreal version, I would choose the latter. I wear the waterproof formula because my eyes are very sensitive and tear up with any light around and I haven’t noticed any sensitivity or itchiness in my eyes from it at all. This is definitely a win in my book.

  • ASOS Cacti Pajamas

I’m normally a baggy t-shirt and soccer shorts kind of girl when it comes to pajamas but my best friend sent me these for my birthday and I love them! They’re so comfortable and perfect for the hot summer weather that we still have around here. The cut of the shorts is also very flattering. Stephen asked me if I was ever going to change into something else and I said, “Nope!”

  • WODs

If you’re new here, first of all, welcome! Second of all, you might not know it yet but fitness is a huge priority in my life. Not only do I like to stay in shape but I like to stay SANE! Overall, I just feel better when I do some sort of physical activity every day. Long story short, eventually I want to complete a marathon in every state so I do about 2-3 of those a year. When I’m not running, I’m doing and coaching CrossFit. I started doing it over year ago after years of saying, “CrossFit is stupid” and haven’t looked back since.

#1: For time (I completed it in 5:20 but I’m definitely doing it again because I know I can do better!)-

21-15-9

Air squats

Sit-ups

Burpees

#2: 11 min EMOM (every minute on the minute) complete 7 hang power cleans (95/65#) and 6 burpee over bar

^^ This one is a lot more tiring than it sounds!

  • Bloggers

Laura Godfrey (Reese & Rowe): Laura is definitely someone that I would want as a friend. Not only does her style have my name written all over it but she’s also such an inspiring Momma to her two girls, Reese and Rowen. I love reading (and/or watching on Insta stories) her Memory Verse Monday posts every week. It’s basically a new Bible verse that her family memorizes every week to teach her girls important Biblical lessons. It’s such a good idea and I enjoy memorizing them too!

  • Food for Thought

I read this quote and I couldn’t get it out of my head this week. “Every time you eat or drink you are either feeding a disease or fighting it.” I’m not sharing this to say, “you should only be eating kale.” No no no. Remember the title of this blog?! It’s really just something that made me think and maybe it will for you too.

  • Verse

“When you go through deep waters I will be with you.” Isaiah 43:2

These crosses were designed by @evelyn_henson. She’s selling each cross as an 8×8 for $15. 100% of the proceeds go towards Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. If you wish to purchase one, DM her on her Instagram with the color (green, pink, or blue) and your email and she’ll send you an invoice. You can also save the picture below to use as a phone background if you wish!

  • Question of the week:

Do you have a favorite college football team? We’re so excited because our HOKIES kickoff the season this Saturday against WVU!
