A few years ago my Mom catered a party where they served this amazing brie cheese appetizer. It was a round of brie covered with a delicious fruit spread topped with nuts and then wrapped in a light, buttery dough. It was one of those dishes that you don’t expect to be amazing and then you take a bite and sit there eating more in awe until you realize you just finished the entire thing. It was our favorite. Since then, we’ve made it ourselves many times, each time a little bit differently than the last.
This is a variation that I came up with one day. It includes two of the sweetest, tastiest ingredients: brown sugar and honey. Pair this recipe with your favorite crackers and you have yourself a perfectly balanced sweet and savory appetizer.
Preheat the oven to 375 F.
Grease a cookie sheet with cooking spray.
Open up the tube of crescent rolls, spread out the dough on the cookie sheet, and press the seams together.
Remove the round of brie cheese from the packaging and place it in the center of the crescent roll layer.
Sprinkle the brown sugar on top of the cheese round and drizzle honey over the sugar.
Wrap the crescent roll dough around the cheese round so that all of the cheese and topping is covered with the dough.
Drizzle honey over the top of the crescent roll cheese round.
Bake by following the instructions on the crescent roll package until the round is golden brown.
