Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.
Beat together butter and sugars until light.
Add in eggs one at a time, mix until just combined.
Add syrup or molasses and vanilla.
In a separate small bowl, stir together flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
Slowly add the flour mixture into egg and sugar mixture until just combined.
Fold in the oats, raisins, and nuts.
Drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto parchment lined cookie sheets about 3 inches apart (they spread and flatten out more than normal oatmeal cookies).
Bake until the edges are dark and crisp but the centers are light and soft, about 8-12 minutes.
