Preheat oven to 350F.
Mix shortening and sugar together until fluffy.
Add molasses and eggs to sugar mixture and beat well.
Sift together the rest of the ingredients.
Add dry ingredients to mixer and mix until completely combined.
Roll the dough into small balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake 8.5 minutes for a soft center or 10-12 minutes to make crispy.
Place cookies on a cooling rack until cool.
