Christmas Crack

Ingredients

  • 1 Box Keeblers Club Crackers
  • 1 Cup Dark Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1 Cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 Cups Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Cup Nuts, candies, etc. for toppings

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F degrees.

  2. Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper or foil. Make sure the entire pan is covered to the sides.

  3. Remove the crackers from the box and line the bottom of the cookie sheet with a single layer of crackers. Some of the crackers might have to be broken in half near the sides to cover the entire baking baking sheet.

  4. Place brown sugar, butter, and salt in a medium sized pot.

  5. Stirring frequently, cook the butter and sugar over medium heat until the butter is completely melted.

  6. Continue cooking for another 3-5 minutes while frequently stirring so that it doesn't burn. Once the mixture comes to a boil and starts to darken, remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla.

  7. Carefully pour the hot mixture over the crackers on the baking sheet.

  8. Spread the butter mixture over the crackers with a spatula until all of the crackers are covered.

  9. Place the baking sheet in the oven for 5 minutes. The "caramel" will look bubbly at the end of the 5 minutes.

  10. Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle all of the chocolate chips over the top of the crackers.

  11. Put the pan back in the oven for 1 minute

  12. Spread the melted chocolate chips evenly over the crackers using a spatula.

  13. Top with sliced almonds, M&Ms, peppermint pieces, chopped hazelnuts, chopped pecans, chopped walnuts, etc.

  14. Let the crackers cool and then move to the refrigerator to cool overnight.

  15. "Crack" the crackers using your hands or a knife.

  16. Enjoy!
